It’s a base-model-automatic.
The car’s in the shop for leather because why the hell not?
I could put it on like a shirt. With that said, the dash and ergonomics are well-sorted for a base-model economy car from 2009 or so and the seats are supportive for a big boy like me (6’3” and 320 lbs) but I wouldn’t want to live with it. The first-gen Versa hatch is roomier.

I’m just trying to wrap my head around putting a leather interior in a base Mazda 2.

I had one for a while and enjoyed living with it, but I like small cars. A million times more fun to drive than a Versa although the throttle response was a little sleepy.

Sat in one before I bought my current 3 - didn’t fit, seat didn’t go back far enough, (same situation as the Honda Fit.) But a nice car for somebody shorter than me. You are right about Mazda egronomics - best in the industry currently. I sit in my 3 and everything just falls right where it should be.

The 15+ Fit is actually better inside than the 2 but that’s probably because it’s 5 years newer.
